Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is helping rid travellers of those preflight nerves with the introduction of state-of-the-art check-in machines.
Since Oct 26, Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 has installed multi-purpose machines to aid passengers with check-in and luggage services.
Juneyao Airlines passengers were the lucky first batch of travellers to try out the machines. The whole process is beautifully simple; passengers scan their ID cards, make a seat selection, print a boarding pass, and check-in their luggage. Travellers should be aware that baggage weighing more than 20kg will be subject to an additional charge.
In recent years, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has continuously introduced new services to improve the quality of experience it offers its passengers. These measures include the option of using Ali pay or WeChat pay and self-service boarding gates.
Authorities have begun contacting many airlines in the hope of implanting these self-check-in machines across the airport.
The images below provide details about the basic steps passengers take when using the new check-in machines.
