Hongqiao Tiandi delivers festive flair

However, Christmas lovers who are fond of tradition should not worry, Tiandi has covered its cultural bases with an 18-meter tall tree adorning a prominent space outside the shopping center. Certainly, the scene is one for romantics, a feeling enhanced by the atmospheric mood lighting and seasonal music.

One distinctive feature of this year's display in Tiandi is the ability to mix traditional with contemporary aspects of Christmas. One modern instillation is the expansive series of dandelion flower lights that form a field. The lamps have been created out of 9,000 recycled water bottles by Filipino artist Olivia D' Aboville.

But the Christmas bonanza is beneficial to more people than just seasoned art lovers and it aims to help eager young artists. Accordingly, four prominent local artists will hold workshops to teach children under the age of 15. These workshops will include wall painting, drawing, and making light structures.

December promises to be an exciting month in Hongqiao Central Business District with a Kumamon exhibition scheduled among many other exciting events. The light festival is open from Dec 8 and will run until the end of the month.
