A series of promotional events highlighting smart city construction in Shanghai recently rounded off with 37 companies displaying their latest products and services in the Hongqiao Central Business District (CBD). 

As the municipality's demonstration area of smart development, Hongqiao CBD is ushering in a new era whereby the end of 2017 the construction of public infrastructure will take a big step forward meeting a higher standard in information and technological development, covering the major aspects of smart transportation, smart exhibition and smart business.

Smart transportation

A comprehensive transport service information platform is currently under development, which will help facilitate route navigation, road condition releasing and car parking.

Within three years, an official website integrating regional traffic information will be launched. Electronic screen boards will cover various office buildings and public areas providing information including bus timetable, emergencies and related regulations.

The final step involves the development of a mobile app to inform individuals in the district of traffic information. This is expected to be realized between 2020 and 2025.
