The Shanghai Changning Municipal Government has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei and China Unicom, two giants in China's telecommunication industry, to build an artificial intelligence (AI) technology innovation demonstration center named "Hongqiao Wisdom Valley".

The new project is one of the four major initiatives that the district government will take to implement its 13th Five-Year Plan strategy. The other three are a block renovation, an AI innovation building and an AI startup base all of which are advancing smoothly.

According to the agreement, the Hongqiao Wisdom Valley will gradually bring in advanced technologies and industry resources from Huawei and China Unicom to foster innovative startups showing great potential for growth. The Changning Municipal Government will combine the force of local universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises to promote the project's construction.

The AI industry base is located in China Unicom's New Spacetime Building, No. 1033 Changning Road. It is divided into two functional areas – an incubation space and office space. The local government and enterprises will together run the incubation space while the office space will strive to attract promising AI firms.
