Hongqiao pursues low carbon idea
More waterscapes
In order to improve the waterscapes in Hongqiao CBD various themes were developed including a warm community, science and business, countryside and wetlands, and sightseeing.
One 16-kilometer runway, three piers, 19 waterborne platforms, and ten sightseeing points such as a corridor used for admiring planes, a water park, and a water sports base, are expected to be established.
Some of them, such as the plane-admiring corridor, could become part of residents' daily lives.
Walking along the corridor amidst beautiful scenery you may see planes rising to the sky or descending to Hongqiao airport, or get a glimpse of Chinese and foreign airliners neatly arranged on the airport's tarmac.
In order to prepare for the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) to be held in Hongqiao CBD next year, the district plans to launch its second green land project with an area of 15.17 hectares.
More vegetation will be planted and road facilities will be improved within public green lands. Access roads to green buffer areas greenbelts will also be maintained, according to the project.
