Huzhou was recently designated as a national-level demonstration city for the quality and safety of its agricultural products by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.

The city has strived to ensure both the quality and safety of its agricultural products, and a recent inspection showed that over 98 percent of the city's agricultural products met quality and safety standards.

Huzhou even formed an alliance of institutions and companies engaged in agricultural product inspection in order to more efficiently carry out inspections on agricultural products in the city.

Members of the alliance have carried out more than 4,000 batches of quantitative inspections and over 100,000 batches of qualitative inspection in total.

The city also set up an online platform which includes all companies and institutions engaged in the production, marketing and inspection of agricultural products, so as to increase the traceability of local agricultural products.

In order to enhance the quality of local agricultural products, the city issued 50 requirements for major agricultural product industries, said an official in the city's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

The city has been dedicated to building local counties into demonstration counties for ensuring the quality and safety of agricultural products, and Deqing county has won a national title for its efforts.
