Huzhou received the Governance & Finance Award at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) on Nov 20 in Barcelona, Spain.

Huzhou, a lakeside city located in the north of East China's Zhejiang province, was the only city in China to be awarded during the event.

The city also had a large, special booth themed on "Smart Huzhou" at the site of the event which exhibited the city's achievements in financial services, garbage sorting, transportation, and Internet of Things, among other things.

Huzhou has been striving to create a new, more effective governance model and develop its intelligent industries and digital economy in a bid to build itself into a modern city equipped with smart governance systems.

According to the organizing committee of the SCEWC, the conference is an influential international event which focuses on boosting development and cooperation between different cities across the globe in urban innovation and management.

A total of 1,059 exhibitors, over 400 lecturers and nearly 26,000 spectators attended the event to exchange ideas on smart city development and seek cooperation opportunities.
