A total of 74,345 batches of bamboo and wood products were exported from Huzhou in 2020, an increase of 9 percent year-on-year, official data from Huzhou Customs showed.

Zhejiang Anji Huilian Wood Industry Co Ltd exemplifies the rising popularity of the city's bamboo and wood products in overseas markets.

The company's sales amounted to 80 million yuan ($12.3 million) last year, representing an increase of 15 percent year-on-year, according to Ma Hongfen, the company's general manager.

In addition, the company has been fully booked until May this year, Ma said.

The strong results are primarily due to the local customs' efforts in helping local products expand their markets overseas.

A green channel in which enterprises can make reservations for custom clearance at any time has been set up by local custom authorities, according to Zhu Xingrong, director of the Anji office of Huzhou Customs.

In addition, they have helped enterprises to reduce export risks by actively informing them of targeted market standards ahead of time.

Measures including introducing paperless procedures in custom clearance have also played a big part in the growth in exports.
