A delegation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) headed by Zeng Yong, the university's president, visited Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province on Feb 1.

While meeting the delegation, Mayor Wang Gang expressed his gratitude to UESTC for its long-term support for Huzhou's development on behalf of the municipal government.

In September last year, Huzhou and UESTC jointly inaugurated a research institute, aiming to support Huzhou and the Yangtze River Delta in aspects including talent training, technical innovation, and global cooperation.

The facility will fuel Huzhou's high-standard development, noted Wang, pledging that the government will support the research institute's construction and look to expand bilateral links in the future.

Zeng noted that the research institute's establishment is a landmark achievement for the partnership between UESTC and Huzhou.

He said that the institute has entered the accelerated construction period, adding that they will strive to play a bigger role in high-end talent cultivation, technical innovation, and local industrial upgrading based on the city's specific conditions.
