The fifth session of the eighth Huzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) commenced in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Feb 28.

Yang Jianxin, chairman of the eighth Huzhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, delivered the work report.

Yang said that the CPPCC Huzhou Municipal Committee has contributed actively to the city's high-quality development in the past year as a political advisory body.

He added that this year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, calling for more efforts to construct the city into a model city amid the province's "Important Window" campaign, a pioneer in socialist modernization, as well as a modernized lakeside garden city with high standards.
