2 people, 3 groups named national models for poverty relief

Two individuals and three groups from Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province recently were honored as national models in the country's poverty alleviation campaign.

They were honored at a grand gathering to mark the nation's poverty alleviation accomplishments and to honor model poverty fighters at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, capital of China, on Feb 25.

The two individuals were Xu Yuxiong, deputy director of the Huzhou Municipal Regional Cooperation Office, and Zhang Kairong, director of the public service center of Shanlian town, Huzhou's Nanxun district.

The three groups were the CPC committee of Huangdu village, Lilong township, Anji county, the CPC Nanxun district committee, as well asthe office of the leading group in charge of the high level comprehensive well-off work of high-income farmers in Changxing county.

Huzhou has played an active role in the poverty elimination campaign nationwide.

Since 2015, the city has allocated a total of 1.1 billion yuan ($169 million) to help lift four impoverished counties out of poverty, including Wulan county in Qinghai province, Qingchuan county in Sichuan province, and Keping county in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

In addition, it has sent 450 cadres and professionals to these places for poverty relief. The city has been rated as "excellent" by the provincial government in terms of east-west cooperation in poverty alleviation work for two years in a row.
