Shen Xinming, a resident from Huzhou's Deqing county, was recently honored as a national model volunteer by the Red Cross Society of China.

In November 2015, Shen and his friend established a public welfare organization, which now has 186 registered volunteers.

The organization regularly carries out volunteer services in hospitals, such as offering medical guidance and raising donations for impoverished patients.

In addition, a number of impoverished students have also been funded to complete their studies.

Official data shows that the volunteer team led by Shen has carried out more than 1,360 welfare activities, rendering more than 41,000 hours of service to over 130,000 people.

In September 2018, Shen invested 10,000 yuan ($1538.5) as the initial fund to set up the Red Cross Zhong'an Rescue Team, which has been offering support for emergency rescues in the city.

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, volunteers led by Shen stood in the frontline of the city's fight against the virus. They carried out health monitoring and screening at communities, as well as offered help to people in need.
