Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province kicked off an array of activities on April 20 to mark International Tea Day, which falls on the same day annually.

Visitors got the chance to take a sip of some premium tea produced in the city like Anji white tea and Zisun tea.

Other activities included pipa and erhu performances, as well as demonstrations of ancient ways of making tea and creating calligraphy also attracted a lot attention.

The winners of an annual tea contest named after Lu Yu, who is known for his Cha Jing (The Classic of Tea), which is said to be first monograph about tea culture in the world, was also announced on the same day.

The tea company run by Yang Yunjie was among the gold award winners.

Situated in Tanlongqiao village, Heping town, Huzhou's Changxing county, the company mainly produces Baiye Yihao, a premium variety of green tea.

Yang predicted that the company's tea sales will be better than last year despite the shrinking output affected by the weather.
