Two companies from Huzhou recently were listed among the first batch of Zhejiang "waste-free" enterprises.

A total of 15 companies from across the province made the list, which was released by the Zhejiang provincial department of ecology and environment and the Zhejiang provincial department of economy and information technology.

The two Huzhou companies are Huzhou Zhongshi Technology Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Xinfengming Group, and Zhejiang Jiemei Electronic Technology Co Ltd.

Jiemei is engaged in the research and development, production, and sales of thin carrier tapes for electronic components.

Founded in 2001 in Huzhou's Anji county, the company has been working to reduce the usage of disposable items. In 2014, the company set up a photovoltaic power station that consumes only power generated by itself.

It has also launched a campaign to promote the recycling of waste heat of air compressors.

Efforts have also been made to reduce solid waste generation at source and ensure that their products are environmentally friendly.

"Waste-free" companies refer to companies that adopt green production modes which minimize the impact of solid waste on the environment.

Huzhou aims to become a "waste-free" city by the end of 2023.  A "waste-free" city is an advanced urban management concept aimed at minimizing the production of solid waste and improving the recycling and safe disposal of waste in the city.
