Qian Yirong, an official at the agriculture and rural affairs office of Xilong township, Huzhou's Anji county, was honored as a model civil servant in a national award ceremony held in Beijing on Aug 30.

The honorary title conferred to Qian is a recognition of his contributions to the development of the white tea industry in Anji and some poverty-stricken places in western China since 1987.

According to a survey released at the 2022 China Tea Conference in April, Anji white tea's brand value has increased by about 7.2 percent year-on-year to about 4.85 billion yuan ($746.15 million).

Tea seedlings donated by Anji in recent years have helped with relief poverty efforts in some impoverished areas in China, including Guzhang county in Hunan province, Qingchuan county in Sichuan province, as well as Pu'an county, Yanhe county and Leishan in Guizhou province.

The comprehensive administrative law enforcement bureau of Huzhou's Wuxing district was also recognized as a model group of civil servants for its exploration of digital technologies applications in its work.

The innovative measures taken by the bureau to solve problems related to smoking and parking have won wide recognition among local residents.
