Ji Bowen took home the gold medal in the men's 500m single sculls at the 2022 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, on Sept 4.

Ji won with a time of 1 minute and 48.77 seconds.

Earlier this year in May, Ji finished fourth in the men's 500m single scull final at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Racice, Czech Republic with a timing of 1 minute and 45.93 seconds - the best performance by an athlete from Zhejiang to date.

Later in August, Ji and his teammate Liu Hao grabbed a silver medal and a bronze medal at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada.

A native of Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, Ji was drafted into the national canoeing team in 2021. That same year, the 20-year-old won three medals at the 14th National Games in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in September.
