Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province will encourage local businesspeople to invest in their hometown as part of its efforts to achieve common prosperity.

The local government is aiming to attract 10,000 such businesspeople back to Huzhou in hopes of creating 1,000 jobs in rural areas by 2025.

Huzhou has unveiled a raft of measures such as developing rural tourism to promote common prosperity after Zhejiang was designated the nation's first demonstration zone in this regard.

In 2021, Huzhou set the goal of becoming a city with undifferentiated urban and rural areas.

In May, three initiatives in Huzhou were listed among the best common prosperity practices in the province by the Zhejiang government.

The three cases are the public hospital reform in Huzhou, the preschool education reform that involves expanding the inclusiveness of kindergartens in Anji county, and the approaches taken by Changxing county to raise the incomes of low-income farmers.
