Chi Kuanyao, an athlete from Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, recently won the gold medal in the men's 52-kilogram category at the 2022 National Youth Wushu & Sanda Championship.

This is the only gold medal won by the Zhejiang delegation, which is composed of 13 athletes, including nine from Huzhou, at the competition. The delegation also won a silver medal.

Winning the gold medal also meant that Chi obtained the national first-class athlete qualification.

Born in Huzhou's Wuxing district in November 2008, Chi attended the Wuxing Sports School in 2019 before winning the men's 48kg category at the 2022 Zhejiang Youth Wushu & Sanda Championship.

The 2022 National Youth Wushu & Sanda Championship, which was held in Wuyuan county, Jiangxi province from Jan 11 to 18, featured 33 teams of 380 athletes from across the nation. Twenty gold medals were up for grabs.
