Huzhou sees booming tourism industry, consumption during holiday

The tourism industry and consumer market in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province showed a strong rebound during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, which ends on Jan 27.

According to the city's bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism, A-level scenic spots, hotels, rural attractions, and cultural venues in Huzhou received 3.58 million tourists as of 4:00 pm of Jan 27, up 8.4 percent from 2019. The tourism revenue during the same period reached 4.75 billion yuan ($700.53 million), a 14.8-percent increase compared to 2019.

To attract more tourists during Spring Festival, the 84 A-level scenic spots in Huzhou launched about 200 tourism products. Nanxun Ancient Town, which announced that it will be permanently free to enter starting from Jan 18, received a record number of tourists and generated 228.7 million yuan in revenue, up 396 percent year-on-year. The Mogan Mountain scenic area received 24,000 tourists, 1.04 times that of 2019.

Libraries, museums and cultural centers in Huzhou held 486 Chinese New Year-related cultural activities, which attracted 3.46 million visits.

Major commercial districts and companies in Huzhou generated 810 million yuan in sales, registering a 7.7-percent year-on-year increase, according to the city's bureau of commerce.

Thirty-five commercial companies in Huzhou achieved 150 million yuan in sales during nighttime hours, while 16 cinemas in the city generated 23.72 million yuan in operating revenue.
