Huzhou hosting traditional Spring Festival activities

A variety of traditional activities are being held to celebrate the Spring Festival in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, providing much fun to local residents and tourists.

The city's Golden Lakeshore scenic area is staging a lantern show that runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm every night until early March. Themed around the metaverse and futuristic technology, the show features more than 10 large colorful lanterns, which create a very festive mood.

Qianyuan town in Deqing county, Huzhou is also holding a lantern show. The show has thousands of years of history and is a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage item. On Feb 3, two days before the Lantern Festival, 11 dragon dance teams will come to the town to give performances.

On Jan 26, the fifth day of the first month of the Chinese New Year, more than 200 residents from Digang village decorated 24 ships and rode boats down an ancient canal to pray for good fortune in the Year of the Rabbit. Villagers also staged Peking Opera, lion dance, and dragon dance performances during the celebration.
