Tea lovers gather in Nanxun Ancient Town

Nanxun Ancient Town, a national 5A scenic spot in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, held a tea event on March 22 to attract lovers of the traditional Chinese beverage from the nation.

More than 60 visitors from across the country took apart in the event which saw participants play a blind tasting game that saw them guess 12 varieties of tea they were drinking. The activity was held in Yiyuan, a private garden in the ancient town.

A visitor surnamed Luo from Xiamen, Fujian province spoke highly of the tea event, during which she identified five different kinds of tea.

Nanxun Ancient Town has received 2 million visitors so far this year, which is more than the total figure recorded in the previous year. The marked increase in visitor numbers comes in the wake of its implementation of the free entry policy on Jan 18.

Founded in 1252 during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), Nanxun Ancient Town is the first Jiangnan ancient town in China to be included in the World Cultural Heritage list.
