NPC deputy: Wang shares vision for rural vitalization

Yucun village, situated amidst the mountains of Anji county, Zhejiang province, has undergone a remarkable transformation from an industrial area to a beacon of eco-friendly progress, standing as a testament to sustainable development in China.

Wang Yucheng, Party chief of Yucun village and a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, expressed his aspiration to contribute the village's innovative approach to the nationwide initiatives aimed at enhancing rural vitalization and shared prosperity. This sentiment was conveyed during an interview held on the sidelines of the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, which opened in Beijing on March 5.

Leveraging his wealth of experience, Wang presented 10 insightful suggestions encompassing various facets of rural vitalization this year.

Reflecting on the substantial emphasis on rural vitalization and industrial development in this year's government work report, Wang remarked, "The clear tasks and defined objectives outlined in the report have inspired and emboldened me."

The Party chief also shared the latest developments in Yucun, underscoring their adept response to evolving cultural and tourism trends. Wang joyfully stated, "During the recent Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, our innovative cultural and tourism initiatives attracted over 40,000 visitors, marking a 50 percent increase compared to the previous year."

In 2023, Yucun village experienced a surge in collective economic income, reaching 22.47 million yuan ($3.12 million), with operational income accounting for 10.11 million yuan. Notably, over 1,000 villagers received a collective bonus of 3.13 million yuan, reflecting the tangible benefits of the village's progress.

Looking ahead, Wang emphasized, "We are committed to ensuring that the visible collective assets of Yucun continuously translate into tangible dividends for the villagers, fostering a more prosperous rural development and increasingly vibrant lives for our people."
