Inner Mongolian media delegation comes to Tumd Right Banner

A media delegation of journalists and reporters from Ordos, Bayannuur and Wuhai visit the Meidai Monastery scenic area located in Tumd Right banner in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 21. Meidai Monastery is an historical building that was built in 1565 during the reign of the Emperor Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It has more than 250 ancient halls, including the Grand Hall and the Dalai Lama Temple, with an area of 62,500 square meters. The building, which integrates the Han and Tibetan styles and Mongolian architecture, is the oldest monastery in Inner Mongolia, and is a precious cultural relic for the study of ancient Tumd history. The media delegation takes pictures of the exhibits on display at Chilechuan Museum, on June 21. Located in Tumd Right Banner in Baotou, Chilechuan Museum is the only museum which specializes in the culture and history of the region. The museum covers an area of 25,000 sq m and has an exhibition area of 18,000 sq m. It opened in October, 2011, as a branch of the Inner Mongolia Museum. [Photo/Baotou Daily]
