Zhang Yuanzhong, Party secretary of the CPC Baotou municipal committee, visited Baotou Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 9 – in a bid to learn how key projects in the equipment manufacturing sector are progressing.

Zhang made a tour of inspections to related companies and project construction sites that are located in the industrial park -- including Baotou Tiansheng Heavy Industry Co, Inner Mongolia First Machinery Group and a monocrystalline silicon project carried out in cooperation with Wuxi Shangji Numerical Control Co.

Zhang listened carefully to reports made on the progress of project construction, process technology, production scales and market prospects. He also inquired about the difficulties and problems that the companies had in promoting the projects.

Zhang listened to the overall situation of the monocrystalline silicon project, and called for more efforts to be made in accelerating the promotion of projects, capital, and technology in the industrial park.

The project, carried out in cooperation with Wuxi Shangji Numerical Control Co, revolves around the construction of a monocrystalline silicon production center.

The center will be built in the Baotou Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park. It is expected to receive 3 billion yuan ($436 million) in investment, which will primarily go towards the production of monocrystalline silicon production and support facilities.

The production center is expected to earn 3 billion yuan in annual output value and generate more than 100 million yuan in annual profits and taxes.

It is expected to begin operating by the end of December.
