Baogang Group releases social responsibility report
Baogang Group released its social responsibility report for 2018 on July 16, according to local media.
The social responsibility report, some 35,000 Chinese characters in length, contains topics including the company history, main businesses, strategic version, corporate culture, management systems and future plans.
As one of the leading industrial enterprises in the autonomous region, Baogang Group took a leading role in its strategic transformation with a focus on rare earths. Officials said it continuously strengthened and improved the state-owned capital and promoted the coordinated development of various sectors last year -- such as the metallurgy, coal, electric power, building materials, transportation, finance and machinery processing industries.
The group’s annual operating income in 2018 hit 87 billion yuan ($12.65 billion).
The company continued to promote green development. It eliminated dated production capacity, increased energy conservation and emissions reduction and developed green industries.
In addition, Baogang Group actively participated in social welfare undertakings. Funds and goods and materials given to Guyang county and Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner in Baotou city totaled 6.56 million yuan throughout the year.
Established in 1954, Baogang Group is based in Baotou and is the largest steel business based in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It is one of the oldest iron and steel manufacturers in China, with a major plant in the city. It is also the country’s biggest scientific research and production base for rare earth metals.
