The Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earth, located in Baotou city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, currently boasts various invention patents granted in Japan, the United States and the European Union, according to Baotou Daily.

An application for the "SCR Catalyst and Its Preparation Method and Application" was filed in July 2019, and obtained authorization from Japan and the EU in 2020.

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) application for "A Rare Earth-based Hydrogen Storage Alloy and Its Use" was filed in 2015 to enter the markets in Japan, the US and China. It was authorized by Japan and China in 2019 and authorized by the US in 2020.

The "Method for Preparing Neodymium Iron Boron Permanent Magnet Material PCT" application was filed in 2017. In 2018, the application was submitted to Japan, the US and the EU, and it entered the review stage in the same year. It was authorized by Japan in October 2020.

The foreign authorization of these PCT patents and the improvement of the follow-up technology will greatly improve the comprehensive utilization of rare earth resources, which is more conducive to the high-quality development of China's related high-end industries.

In recent years, rare earth scientific research institutions and enterprises based in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone have actively adapted to economic globalization, and the number of international patent applications has continued to increase.

As of November this year, companies and institutions including Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earth, Tianhe Magnets, and Xibao Bowei have applied for 68 international patents.
