The city has formulated and issued its Three-year Action Plan for Low-Carbon Transportation in Baotou City.

According to the action plan, the city will optimize its transportation structures, build a fast and efficient passenger transportation hub system, and improve its transportation infrastructure.

By 2027, Baotou's transportation sector will achieve peak carbon, with total energy consumption reaching 1.355 million metric tons of standard coal and carbon dioxide emissions reaching 3.47 million tons.

The city is to increase investment in public transportation capacity year by year, and increase the proportion of new energy public transport vehicles. The proportion of clean energy and new energy buses will gradually reach 100 percent.

Baotou will open 10 new urban bus lines, and three integrated urban-rural lines.

It will optimize its transportation structure, promote the green and low-carbon development of logistics hubs, and vigorously promote the use of new energy logistics vehicles.

In terms of passenger transportation hub development, Baotou will accelerate the construction of a comprehensive passenger transportation hub, and build a fast and efficient passenger transportation hub system that meets different travel needs and covers the entire region.

In terms of transportation infrastructure, Baotou will speed up the construction of a "three-dimensional" transportation system, and promote the construction of the Baotou-Xi'an High-speed Railway (Baotou-Ordos section), the Baotou-Yinchuan High-speed Railway, and the Hohhot-Baotou High-speed Railway.

Infrastructure facilities such as hydrogen refueling stations, charging stations, and charging piles will be built in highway service areas, logistics parks, and bus stations.

By 2023, the number of charging piles in the city will reach 3,400.
