Baotou pushes forward digital transformation

Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has accelerated the development of digital transformation, particularly the digital transformation of the industrial economy, according to local media reports.

The city has built 3,415 5G base stations so far. Central urban areas and other key areas of the city have reportedly now achieved full 5G signal coverage.

Baotou has built two data centers for commercial operations.

The Baotou Cloud Computing Center has a storage capacity of 50 petabytes and handles 129 applications in 94 units in the city. The Baotou Big Data Application Center has a storage capacity of 390 terabytes and handles the government cloud business of Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone as well as the data backup business in Beijing.

Since the beginning of this year, 29 of the 70 digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading projects promoted by Baotou have been completed.

North Heavy Industries Group's network security project won the bid for the Industrial Internet Innovation and Development Project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the only project to win a bid in the autonomous region.

Bayan Iron Mine became the first smart mine to operate in the autonomous region.

In addition, Beiben Trucks Group Co completed the test run of its unmanned mining vehicle, setting a precedent for the research and development of intelligent mining vehicles in the autonomous region.

Baotou Big Data Industrial Park was the first of its kind to be established in the autonomous region. A total of 49 companies have set up operations in the park and applied for more than 100 patents. The foundation for the development of digital economy represented by artificial intelligence, big data, and the industrial Internet has been established.
