Digital land port in Baotou reduces carbon dioxide emissions

Updated: 2022-08-10

Baotou has been accelerating the construction of a digital land port and has used the container model of the seaport terminal for land coal transportation. It is the first "distribution to collection + new energy" digital drop box transportation model for coal in containers in China.

The dry port connects 550,000 metric tons of thermal coal every month, increasing the transportation efficiency by a factor of four and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7,000 tons.

Drop box transportation means that after coal is transported to a cargo station via containers, the containers are directly transferred to new energy heavy trucks via a crane and then transported to a power plant. The method reduces costs and improves efficiency and profitability.

"Through our identification code, after the driver is assigned a transportation task, the information will be transmitted to my station synchronously as soon as the coal is loaded, and the whole situation is clear at a glance," said Tian Weitao, head of the Baotou station of Beijing Huitong Tianxia Logistics Technology Co.

The digital land port is currently building a solar power exchange station, and after more than 10,000 diesel trucks in Baotou are all replaced by new energy vehicles, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 1 million tons.
