A new company called Aerospace Times Feihong Test Technology Co was recently registered and established in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner – located in Baotou city, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – to test important new aerial drones.

China's first unmanned intelligent system research and training base to be operated by Aerospace Times is also about to be put into operation there.

Based on the solid industrial foundations, ample resources and policy guarantee conditions of Baotou city, the company – controlled by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, or CASC – plans to give full play to the advantages of technological innovation and research and testing.

The airspace of the base has an east-west radius of 500 kilometers and an altitude of 13,000 meters.

After completion, it will be qualified and equipped to carry out unmanned system test identifications, scientific research test flights, maintenance support, comparative test competitions, disaster prevention and mitigation emergency rescues.

At the same time, a parallel deduction and combat test environment combining data and reality will be built. In addition, digital intelligent range services will be provided, which can provide an unmanned system test capacity of 10,000 sorties per year and meet the test and training support needs of 5,000 person-times per year.

At present, the company's test capabilities for the military and civilian markets are said to have initially been formed.

It is expected that they can meet the test needs of unmanned systems such as ultra-short-range, short-range, medium-range, and patrol operations.
