Baotou city moves to attract more investment, talent
The city of Baotou – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – is actively on the move to attract more investment as well as to recruit a raft of people.
That's in order for it to continue its economic expansion.
The leaders of Baotou's municipal government attended a mobilization conference on Jan 28, with the goals of attracting investment, attracting talent and optimizing the business environment.
A series of key questions were put on the table for those attending to consider and come up with solutions.
These included: "In order to achieve the goal of advancing about 10 more places in the top 100 cities in the country this year, what support should we undertake to achieve that goal?”
Other key questions presented included "Where does the investment come from? Where is the new increment and the new growth point?"
Investment attraction, talent attraction and business environment optimization were the three major areas placed on the conference's agenda with regard to the future of Baotou.
This year, the city will focus on its development as the "world's rare earth capital" and "world's green silicon capital". It will also focus on strengthening service guarantees and attracting investment – as well as improving its appraisal and incentive mechanism to attract more investment.
This year, Baotou is aiming to introduce more than 200 industrial projects, each with a landed investment of more than 100 million yuan ($14.75 million).
In terms of recruitment, this year's goal for the city is to introduce more than 30 leading talent teams and hire more than 7,000 high-level and urgently needed talent, as well as train some 12,000 technical staff members.
Additionally, this year Baotou is determined to fully implement the 20 rules for a legal business environment and provide enterprises with a full range of services.
