Updated: 2024-05-31

To celebrate International Children's Day on June 1, Baotou has organized a series of events to create a festive atmosphere for children.

On May 28, the Hanqingba Second Community in Jiuyuan district, Baotou, in collaboration with the Yiran Public Welfare Social Work Service Center, held an event for people to try their hands at making intangible cultural heritage crafts.

Zanhua is a type of ancient Chinese hair accessory. In 2008, the art of making it was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

At the start of the event, zanhua experts introduced the children to the origins and significance of the art. Under their careful guidance, the children eagerly participated in hands-on activities, selecting different colors of flowers to weave into beautiful zanhuas.

Afterward, wearing their newly made zanhuas, the children decorated hand fans with step-by-step instructions from the experts.
