Famous comedian Chen Peisi showed up at the Taicang Grand Theater on September 8 to present the drama Balcony. The drama will be staged at Taicang Grand Theater on September 18.

Balcony tells the story of labor contractor Lao Mu who is asking for wages for past work. To give new actors a chance, Chen Peisi will no longer act in the drama. Chen also talked about various aspects of comedy. The degree of a society’s civilization can be measured by its tolerance to comedy. Only when people can smile in most occasions can people treat each other like equals, Chen said.

Chen said he visited Suzhou and Taicang in 1980s. When he came back this time, he found the place to be tremendously different.
