Taicang Port has been developing energetically this year. Major maritime regulatory metrics, including vessel entries and departures, continues to increase at double digit rates, leading other ports in China.

According to statistics from the Taicang maritime safety administration in the first three quarters, with a growth of 21.59 percent year-on-year, a total of 50,060 vessels have safely entered in and departed from the port. The amount of international vessels inspected at the port has risen 19.13 percentyear-on-year to 3,182; 46,878 vessels sailing in domestic routes have obtained entry and departure visas at the port.

The number of super-large vessels entering and departing from the port has increased by 28.36 percent to 353. The volume of incoming and outgoing freight attributed to the super-large vessels grew to 2,086 tons, an increase of 21.2 percent year-on-year.

The administration for vessel entry and departure is more efficient and has lowered costs, since Taicang Port carried out a seaport style administration. Therefore, more vessels have been attracted to the port, an active factor in its development.

Taicang Port’s harbor dues in the first three quarters decreased 41 percent year-on-year to 20.87 million yuan ($3.42 million), according to statistics from the Taicang maritime safety administration.

With the increasing vessel circulation, the Taicang maritime safety administration boosts port development by stressing both a supervision and service-oriented strategy.
