Mudu designs slow lane

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: November 6, 2013

The modification of Lingtian Road and the construction of a green slow lane in the Mudu resort area in Suzhou of Jiangsu province started on November 5. The work is part of an eco-improvement project of Mudu’s “two mountains and a town.”

At Lingtian Road, warning signs have been set up. Many gardeners are also working on transplanting the 366 trees at the southern side of the road. The road will then be widened by 20-30 meters.

Construction of a nearly 10-kilometer green slow lane also began at the same time. Only bicycles and official electric vehicles from the Lingyan Mountain resort are allowed on the 4-meter wide winding road around the mountain.

A series of eco-cultural scenic spots, such as Jinshan town, a fan-style culture garden, a traditional Chinese medical garden, Tianping Temple and the tomb of Zhang Yongfu, will be rebuilt or improved.
