chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: November 7, 2013

An exhibition of Qiaosheng incense burners opened in Tongli water town, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, on November 6.

Qiaosheng incense burners of different styles, colors and sizes can be seen at the exhibition. They look like ancient relics, although they were made recently.

Qiaosheng incense burners are made by Suzhou bronze incense burner master Chen Qiaosheng using a core skill known as shila, which has been lost for nearly 100 years.

Incense burners made by Chen Qiaosheng became famous at home and abroad in the early 1980s. Abbots of Yonghe Lama Temple in Beijing, Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou and Puji Temple at Putuo Mountain use the burners while praying.

Sixteen Qiaosheng incense burners were displayed at the 2010 Shanghai Expo and given to guests from different countries and regions at the opening ceremony as national presents.
