China Suzhou Food Festival kicks off

The eighth China Suzhou Food Festival took place recently at Lingxingmen Square, Xuanmiao Temple and Guanqianjie Street. Co-hosted by the Gusu district government and Suzhou bureau of commerce, the festival aims at further exploring Suzhou food culture, looking for undiscovered Suzhou delicacies and advocating a healthy lifestyle. At the opening ceremony, the hosts unveiled the emblem of the China Suzhou Food Festival, launched the hand-drawn map of delicacies in Suzhou, and awarded prizes to winners of the festival activities.

This year’s festival started at the end of September with the purpose of further exploring Suzhou culture and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The hosts organized various activities, such as a collection activity for logo designs of the food festival, a solicitation for articles and photos depicting Suzhou’s delicacies, and a culinary arts competition. They also made healthy recipes for different seasons, developed five tourist routes for tasting delicious food and launched a Suzhou food trip. At the opening ceremony, the municipal and district chamber of commerce of the catering industry pledged to guarantee food safety and run their businesses in good faith.

During the food festival, from November 17 to 24, sales exhibitions of snacks and green agricultural products will be held at Zhengshanmen Square, Xuanmiao Temple and Shilu Xinsutiandi Shopping Mall. Several Suzhou catering enterprises will also participate in the activity.
