Ancient city wall connects scenic spots in Suzhou

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: November 21, 2013

The ancient city wall in the east of Qimen Bridge in Suzhou of Jiangsu province is both a historical and cultural attraction and a connection between the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Lion Forest Garden and the moat.

Renovation of 400 meters of the 895-meter city wall was finished on November 20, 2013. The whole project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“A significant difference between the wall and other walls is that a wharf has been built at the wall, working as a bridge-connecting moat around an old area of the city and the gardens,” said a man surnamed Pan, who is the manager of the project.
