Recently the extension project of No 339 provincial road was completed and put into use, establishing a faster route between Liuhe and Shanghai.

With a total investment of 616 million yuan ($101 million) and overall length of 8.8 kilometers, the main road is a two-way, four-lane first-class highway. Its subgrade is 28 meters wide, and it has a design speed of 80 km per hour. The 1,309-meter cross-Liuhe River Bridge goes two ways and has six lanes with a main span of 130 meters and width of 35 meters. The bridge’s design reference period is 100 years.

The extension project of No 339 provincial road is significant for developing a port transportation system and alleviating traffic pressure. It also helps connect Liuhe new district and Shanghai, improving tourism functions of the Yangtze River Estuary.
