Plans for Hanshan Temple Bell Ringing Festival are released

The schedule of the 35th Hanshan Temple Bell Ringing Festival was released in Suzhou of Jiangsu province. The event aims to attract tourists from home and abroad to pray for health, family and society. Ticket sales have begun.

In its 35th year, the festival is one of the earliest tourism festivals in China since reform and opening-up. A series of events will be held this year in addition to listening to the bell ring. A New Year’s concert will be staged at Suzhou Arts & Expo Center on December 31, 2013.

On the evening of December 31, the bell in Hanshan Temple will be rung to celebrate the coming of the New Year. Garden parties will be held at Fengqiao Street and the Jiangfengzhou scenic spot. Visitors can also enjoy Buddhist events, a bell donation ceremony and the 108 bell tolls.

A folk art exhibition will be held at the Fengqiao scenic spot, displaying folk skills and performances.

A total of 108 folk art interactive games will be set up at the scenic spot to help tourists better understand Buddhist culture.
