The Jiangsu-Taiwan Lantern Festival will take place at Suzhou Amusement Land in Suzhou of Jiangsu province from December 24, 2013, to February 16, 2014.

Featuring 25 sets of lanterns, a series of events celebrating Christmas, New Year’s and Spring Festival will entertain visitors. Ticket prices are 60 yuan ($9.85) per person.

Christmas celebrations

The park will stay open until 9:30 pm on December 24. Santa Claus will sit on festooned vehicles during a parade and hand out presents.

There will be a band performing songs at the park, and the first group of lanterns will be lit as music plays.

New Year’s prayers

New Year’s comes after Christmas. As part of the Hanshan Temple bell-ringing ceremony, the Wonderland and Hot Spring Park of the amusement park will open until midnight.

Getting warm during the lantern festival

The 25 sets of lanterns will be lit on January 18, 2014. The park will stay open until 9:30 pm on weekends from January 1 to February 16.

Suzhou-style lanterns, an intangible cultural heritage, will be displayed at that time. An inheritor of the cultural heritage will show how to make Suzhou-style lanterns with his students.

Spring Festival traditional celebrations

A lion dance and dragon dance – both traditional celebrations for Spring Festival – will take place at 9:30 am on January 31, 2014.

Suzhou Amusement Land is also collecting videos of New Year’s wishes from babies. The chosen videos will be broadcast in the park, and the child will receive an annual pass to the park.
