The Suzhou Culture and Arts Center is called Suzhou’s bird’s nest and is a place where visitor’s can appreciate art. It is a cultural landmark in the Suzhou industrial park. In the movie Personal Tailor, actor Fang Wei watches a ballet named Xi Shi performed by the Suzhou ballet troupe. It is the only professional ballet troupe in Jiangsu province and one of six professional ballet troupes in China.

Ancient pine park

The ancient pine park is located in Mudu ancient town. It is named after a 500-year-old Podocarpus tree dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The ancient pine park was the former residence of Cai Shaoyu, a rich man from Mudu town during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The former residence is well preserved. Its rafters were engraved with eight pipa (a plucked string instrument with a fretted fingerboard) patterns. The particular style cannot be found in any other building in the Jiangnan area (south of the Yangtze River). In the western part of the backyard is an embroidery art museum established by Yao Jianping, a third-generation successor of Suzhou embroidery.

Jinji Lake

Suzhou’s beauty has two sides: elegant classical gardens and fashionable modern parks.

Oriental Gate

The west bank of Jinji Lake is a 2-kilometer road connecting natural landscapes with cityscapes.

After visiting the lakeshore road, tourists can enjoy the modern art museums of Jinji Lake, including a Chinese museum of funds, the Yu Jianping Embroidery Art Museum, the Guan Jinpeng Movie Studio and the Taiwan Lede Art Museum. If tourists want to have a meal, Li Gongti is a good choice. Li Gongti is a waterfront promenade offering international delicacies to tourists. The Ferris wheel theme park has the largest water Ferris wheel in Asia. Riding the 120-meter-high Ferris wheel, tourists can get a bird’s-eye view of Jinji Lake. At night, tourists can go to Yuanrong Times Square to appreciate the world’s largest backdrop .
