The competition results for a microfilm contest for young cadres were announced on December 18. After three months of production, 40 young cadres from Chengxiang town in Taicang presented films that displayed the charm Chengxiang, using cameras to interpret their dreams.

The participants were divided into 10 groups at random. Each group had a screenwriter, director, photographer and producer. The works featured Chengxiang’s local celebrities, landscapes and customs.

To increase the enthusiasm of young cadres, they were allowed to use cameras and phones to create the microfilms. Nonetheless, they were required to make original works with clear intent. In order to accurately depict work and life in Chengxiang, the participants had to immerse themselves with the people. The activity helped improve the abilities of young cadres and deepened their understanding of grassroots work.
