Three scenic areas in Suzhou of Jiangsu province have been approved as provincial eco-tourism demonstration areas.

The areas include the Qionglong Mountain scenic area in Wuzhong district, Dayang Mountain Ecological Forest Park in the Suzhou National New & Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and the Lianhua Island eco-scenic area at Yangcheng Lake.

There are six such eco-tourism areas in Suzhou now in addition to the Shanghu Lake area, Shajiabang eco-tourism area and Zhenhu Lake eco-tourism area.

The Qionglong Mountain scenic area is famous for its abundant natural resources. It has many precious trees and several kinds of plants used for traditional Chinese medicine.

It is the biggest natural oxygen bar in the Suzhou area – every cubic meter of area contains 50,000 anions, 400-500 times the amount found in normal air.

Dayang Mountain Ecological Forest Park covers an area of 622.8 hectares. Forests cover roughly 90 percent of the park. It is a comprehensive forest park that features ecological tourism, environmental protection, recreation, scientific education and sightseeing.

The natural conditions of Lianhua Island at Yangcheng Lake are excellent. As the only island on the lake, Lianhua is famous for its variety of flowers, such as rape flowers, white chrysanthemums and sunflowers.

Yangcheng Lake is famous for its specialties, including crab, lotus root, wild rabbit, chicken and duck.
