British orchestra performs for New Year

Kent Sinfonia from England will perform at the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center in Suzhou of Jiangsu province on December 29, 2013.

The orchestra was founded in 1962. It became a permanent orchestra of New Sussex Opera in 2008. The New Year concert in Suzhou will be conducted by renowned British conductor and composer Benjamin Ellin.

Aside from works by British composers William Turner Walton and Edward William Elgar, classic works from other composers will also be performed at the concert, including La Ci Darem La Mano (There We’ll Be Hand in Hand) from Don Giovanni, Papageno from The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Largo Al Factotum from The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Antonio Rossini and Votre’s toast from Escamillo’s aria from Carmen by Georges Bizet.

A waltz by Strauss will be included in the concert, too.

Furthermore, Chinese folk songs such as Zou Xi Kou and Jasmine Flower are part of the program. The wonderful music will accompany the audience to welcome the New Year.
