Spas, skiing and blessing trips were the top three choices for self-driving tours around Suzhou on New Year's Day.

According to Suzhou Comfort Travel, many citizens had to put off their plans for outbound travel or long tours until Spring Festival due to the short New Year’s holiday this year. The self-driving tours around Suzhou were a popular way for citizens to spend the holiday.

Most visitors came to Suzhou to pray and enjoy the spas. On New Year's Eve last year, the bell-ringing ceremony at Hanshan Temple attracted lots of tourists from home and abroad. Chongyuan Temple in the Yangcheng Lake peninsula, thanks to its appearance in the hit film Personal Tailor, received nearly 10,000 visitors on New Year's Day, double the amount from last year.

During New Year's Day, the majority of Suzhou citizens travelled to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. Zhejiang’s spa and ski resort welcomed visitors, as well as the amusement parks in Wuxi and Changzhou. Shanghai’s ski resort was also a popular destination.
