The Third Session of the 15th Taicang Municipal People's Congress announced that Taicang will construct 40 public bike stations with 1,000 public bikes in 2014.

The construction of public bikes, as one of Taicang’s top 10 construction projects, aims to promote urban and rural public transportation. According to the plan, Taicang will build a total of 100 public bike stations. The first phase project for 2014 covers the areas from the north of Luoyang Road to the south of new Liuhe, and from east of Loujiang Road to west of State Road 204. The project will introduce 1,200 public bike racks, 1,000 public bikes, 40 station controllers, two card service stations, a management control center and a maintenance center.

In addition to public bikes, Taicang will construct bus shelters in the city, 64 electronic stop boards, 126 idyllic bus shelters in rural areas, and 80 taxi stands in the city and towns. The city will also add and update 20 natural gas buses.
