More than 60 tourists from Shanghai visited the Donglin cooperative farm in Chengxiang, Taicang, on March 20, to enjoy the glamorous rural scenery and taste the organic vegetables.

Li Junjie, a student-turned-official of Donglin village, said that over 60 tourists had made up the first batch of visitors to the farm, which they highly praised for its ecological environment, advanced agricultural technology and high-quality agricultural products. The local rice, vegetables and grains received a warm welcome from the tourists.

During the past two years, Donglin village has tried to promote agricultural tourism by building a 10-hectare picking garden, an organic restaurant and an artificial pasture. Visitors will be able to experience the nomadic life life style, living in yurts and grazing livestock in the pasture.

Taicang has maintained its steady development of agricultural tourism by making full use of its rich agricultural resources. It has developed a distinctive agricultural tourism industry featuring sightseeing, entertainment, leisure, business and farming cultures. The city will put more effort into boosting agriculture development and agricultural tourism and enriching the local farmers.
