The Jiadiing water authority of Shanghai and the Taicang water authority reached an agreement on March 27 to strengthen cooperation in water conservation, water environmental improvement and flood prevention.

Taicang and Jiading district of Shanghai are geographically adjacent and have maintained good cooperation in economy, culture and water resources.

In 2014, the two water authorities will focus on expanding cooperation in construction of water conservancy, flood control and drainage facilities, construction and restoration of dikes and bank revetments, supervision of sewage systems, and improvement of water quality.

The two sides will also promote information sharing, strengthen flood-control capacity and enhance mutual support.
