Taicang launches landscape renovation project for riverside park along Liu River

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: April 2, 2014

The riverside park on the north shore of the new Liu River is popular with citizens. A new landscape renovation project of the west part of the park was launched recently. When completed, the park will extend to national road 204 and link Fazhi Park under the bridge, adding another recreational place for residents in Nanyang Mansion No 1 and West Nanyuanlu Road.

The 900-meter renovation project – including both landscape and municipal works – starts from Yantietang Pond in the east and stretches to the Xicheng River in the west, covering an area of about 80,000 square meters. The landscape works include landscape renovation of the old greenbelt and construction of a new square in front of the entrance and a pond. The municipal works include construction of boulevards, paths, riverside boardwalks, and bridges over Yantietang Pond and the Xicheng River. The boulevards will run through the west part of the park, across the Xicheng River to Fazhi Park in the south, and connect with West Chaoyanglu Road in the north. Soon, citizens can take a slow walk through the park whenever they like.

The landscape renovation project will be completed at the end of July.
